HOW THE STAMP WAS CREATED

The Royal Crown Princess Couple visited Sweden Post's stamp printing works in Kista

The Royal Crown Princess Couple visited Sweden Post's stamp printing works in Kista on February 17 to follow their first stamp through the process from idea to finished product.

The Royal Crown Princess wedding -
a self-evident stamp motif

Stamps capture pictures of Sweden throughout time - our history and our present. The decision about what themes will become stamps is made by the Stamp Advisory Committee and hundreds of suggestions come in every year.

The decision that an eventual Crown Princess wedding would be a natural event to commemorate on a stamp was taken before the actual engagement, and receiving approval from the Crown Princess and her husband-to-be was also a given.

Directly after the engagement was announced on February 24, 2009, a request was sent to the Swedish Court to design stamps based on the wedding and a positive response was returned almost immediately.
